Why Sherrardswood Sixth Form — the evidence is clear

Students here achieve more than they would elsewhere

Choosing where to study for A-Levels is one of the biggest decisions a family makes. At Sherrardswood, our A-Level value added is +0.26 against a national average of −0.03, placing us in the top 3% of schools nationally, with BTEC value added of +0.30. Put simply, students here achieve more than the same students would elsewhere — in classes of around 12, not 25 or 30, taught by people who already know them.

Where do our pupils go next? Our students leave as confident, capable young adults — ready for university, apprenticeships and professional life. 2025 destinations included Medicine at Keele, PPE at Warwick, Law at Liverpool, and places at Bath, Exeter and Manchester. See full destinations →

Academic pathways. Most students study three or four subjects. Every GCSE subject continues to A-Level, alongside an extended range including Further Mathematics, Economics, Psychology, Politics, Sociology, Accounting, Ancient History and Music Technology, plus BTEC Health and Social Care, Applied Science and Sport.

More to Sixth Form life. EPQ, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and leadership roles; the residential trip to France that opens the year, activity days and our annual Proms and Winter Balls; and our Future-Ready PSHE programme.

Inspection. All ISI standards met, confirmed at our most recent ISI inspection (2026).
